Florida’s southwest gulf coast has a variety of personalities that are reflected in its communities.  There are many aspects that bring people to Florida to visit or to live year round.  The sunny weather, award winning beaches, year round recreational activities and cultural events are the first to come to mind.  But in the end, the communities where we live make the Gulf Coast the perfect place to call home.  As your real estate agent, I will work with you to determine which community best fits your lifestyle so you too can call paradise your home.

Golf Communities

The southwest coast of Florida is one of the more popular destinations to play golf 12 months a year. It is no surprise golf enthusiasts can find 25 golf communities in the Sarasota area providing country-club style living. These communities feature bayfront homes, high-rise condos, townhomes, maintenance free villas and luxury estates with access to lush greens designed by such greats as Bobby Jones, Arthur Hill, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.

Boating Communities

The opportunities to have access to the water are endless on the gulf coast making it a boater’s paradise.   Whether your boat is docked in your backyard or at one of the world class marinas, there is easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway, Sarasota Bay, Manatee River and the Gulf of Mexico.  When searching for a home with water access, the size and draft of your boat should be considered due to varying canal widths and depths.  Knowing the vertical clearance of the bridges along your navigation route is another important factor to keep in mind when considering a home on a canal or river.

Even if you are not an avid boater, chances are you will have friends who are.  The boating lifestyle connects you to great nightlife, restaurants, beautiful beaches and breathtaking sunsets.

Gated Communities

Living in a gated community is very popular on the gulf coast.

A gated community refers to a residential neighborhood where access by residents and visitors is controlled through the use of one or more gates. Security staff or key cards ensure that only residents and their guests pass through the gates.

While security is a feature residents enjoy, there are amenities available to the residents exclusively. These can include swimming pools, tennis courts, playgrounds, gyms, walking trails and other recreational facilities.  In addition, many of these communities provide a maintenance free lifestyle.

City Living

The city of Sarasota is the setting of many vibrant neighborhoods.   Single-family luxury homes, elegant townhomes and villas, high-rise waterfront condos, historic bungalows and more all make up the charm and yet cosmopolitan life in Sarasota.  Singles, families and retirees enjoy the sense of a small community while enjoying the wide assortment of cultural events, shopping, restaurants and recreational activities.  Add sunny weather and award winning beaches and Sarasota becomes a top pick for homebuyers.

"Small Town" Communities

Homeowners looking for a quieter lifestyle but within close proximity to the beaches and city amentities, will find living in the “suburbs” a perfect choice.  These towns provide a slower paced atmosphere with a relaxed country approach.  Because of the affordable real estate, North Port, Englewood and Port Charlotte are popular communities for families and retirees.
